UPDATE: News of the unlocked Samsung Galaxy S IIs getting Android 4.0 was incorrectly posted on the Samsung Philippines site, apparently. The Twitter account for Samsung Korea refutes the original report. The very roughly translated tweet is below:
Basically, Samsung has reiterated that the Filipino report of the March 10 release date for the Android 4.0 upgrade is incorrect. Once the Android 4.0 update is ready, Samsung will announce the date via their official Twitter accounts.

=====End Update=====
It?s official. Samsung themselves have announced the availability of the Android 4.0 upgrade for unlocked Galaxy S IIs. Unfortunately, this means that Galaxy S IIs locked to carriers are still in limbo, waiting to see when (if?) the carriers release the upgrade.
The update can be done over the air, or via Samsung Kies. Users have to download the latest version of the Kies software to do the upgrade.
From Samsung?s support site:
1. Major Improvement
??????-?Platform upgrades Android 2.3 Gingerbread ? Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
?????????Face Unlock and Android Beam are added
?????????Mobile Network Data usage function is added
?????????Usability of multi-tasking and some applications is improved
?????????Because of ICS OS feature, Adobe flash and Bluetooth 3.0 HS will not be supported in
ICS OS?(Bluetooth 3.0 is supported still)
Of course, TouchWiz will be in place on top of stock Ice Cream Sandwich.
Given that ARCHOS just sent out their update to Android 4.0.3 for a couple of their tablets, and now Samsung has announced their upgrade date, perhaps we?ll see some update announcements from Motorola or HTC next?
