PANAMA CITY BEACH
?If General Motors, Ford and Chrysler get the bailout that their chief executives asked for yesterday, you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye.?? ? Mitt Romney, ?Let Detroit Go Bankrupt,? The New York Times, Nov. 18, 2008.

Mr. Romney believed that the federal government should not bail out the car companies even though a large portion of Detroit?s economy depends on the auto factories. Fortunately, President Obama did not listen to the words of Mr. Romney, and by bailing out the major car companies he saved the American auto industry. In 2011, GM and Chrysler sold more than 3.8 million vehicles in the United States. All outstanding loans to the car companies have been paid back to the federal government with interest. Today, GM is back on top as the world?s No. 1 automaker.

It is because of decisions such as bailing out the car companies that President Obama is the right man to stay on duty for four more years.

Sometimes a leader must make unpopular decisions, even though the decision is the right one. Unlike Mr. Romney, President Obama is a man of principles. He believes in individual liberty, basic human rights and an economy that gives every American equal opportunity. America needs four more years of Mr. Obama as president because only he can drive America forward to prosperity.

The decisions made by President Obama have affected my life directly. President Obama doubled funding for Pell Grants, providing for me and 3.7 million other Americans who are struggling to go to college. The president passed the largest college tax credit in history, up to $10,000 over four years. In a bipartisan decision, the president passed student loan reform. Soon, federal income-based student loan payments will be capped at no more than 10 percent of disposable income. Due to this, new college graduates won?t be crippled by debt as they start their careers.

The president has made education affordable for millions of Americans. He believes that America should out-educate the rest of the world. President Obama certainly made it easier for me to pursue a degree in college while at the same time help my family financially.
In a 2009 op-ed to USA Today, Mr. Romney urged President Obama to adopt ?Romneycare? at a federal level. ?Romneycare? at the federal level is the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). This law will make health care more affordable for families and small businesses. It makes it illegal for any insurance company to deny children coverage due to having a pre-existing condition. Insurance companies can no longer cancel coverage on the consumer just because he or she gets sick.

In 2011, with the help of the Affordable Care Act, the federal government has recovered $4 billion from health care scams. CBO estimated that by repealing the Affordable Care Act, our national deficit would increase by $109 billion from 2013 to 2022. Mr. Romney wants to increase the national deficit by repealing Obamacare.

President Obama made this nation much safer than it was four years ago. He fulfilled his promise to responsibly and safely bring American soldiers home from Iraq. The president banned the use of torture on POWs. He made a tactical decision that led to the death of Osama Bin Laden. The president has started to bring home U.S. soldiers from Afghanistan as Afghans take ownership of their country.

President Obama is leading in polls in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, three key battleground states where a win is required to clinch the presidency. The president?s proposal of the ?Buffet Rule,? which would make sure that millionaires and billionaires don?t pay lower tax rates than middle-class Americans, is also helping his popularity in the polls.

Mr. Romney does not believe that his rich buddies should pay more in taxes. He does not believe in health care for all Americans. He does not believe in a woman?s right to choose, nor does he believe in marriage equality.

President Obama is the reason why the Motor City is alive today, why Americans have affordable health care, education and job opportunities. President Obama is the answer to move America forward to being a prosperous nation for a very long time.
